Great stay at Econo Lodge

The location is great--straight shot down Abercorn Street to the historic district, within walking distance of a grocery store and a drug store, next door to Oglethorpe Mall. The room was very clean and I had great nights' sleep.

The basics count the most...

It's not hard, to pay more for the basic requirements that travelers actually need for a reasonable accomodation for a few days/nights. When traveling, I don't want more than I need, nor more than I'm going to use. Simply, the basics count far more than the aesthetics- a clean room, a quality mattress and bedding, a practical and functioning bathroom with ample hot water, air conditioning (an American requirement, not shared in foreign countries at an equivalent price point) and heat, TV (WiFi is a modern plus,) simple front desk procedures and reasonable security (it's a urban environment-not Disneyland.) Everything else, frankly, is an extension of an interior decorators 'theme.' I don't expect them to be nutritionists, nor offer a concierge experience. I stay at the Econo Lodge Midtown for exactly these reasons. It's never more than I need and never less than I expect, which puts it, on my scale... as just right.

When you look outside from the windows its breath taking.

We found the room very nice and clean. The hotel is located near shopping malls and restaurants. We were also only about 10 min drive from the Historic District. We plan on visiting Savannah again and I would definitely stay here again.

Things to Do

Byrd Cookie Company

In 1924, Ben T. Byrd, Sr. began baking small batches of cookies from his bakery in Savannah, Georgia, packing them in wooden crates, and personally delivering them to neighborhood markets in his Model T Ford. The cookies were soon christened “Byrd’s Famous Cookies” and steadily gained popularity not only locally, but also among visitors who discovered the delicious confections while visiting Savannah.

Savannah Bonaventure Dash Tours

Walking history tours of beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery with roundtrip transportation from Historic Downtown Savannah, all for about the same price as what other tour companies charge to "meet you out there."

Pin Point Heritage Museum

In 1985, the A.S. Varn & Son oyster and crab factory in Pin Point closed its doors for good. It marked the end of an era for the tiny fishing community tucked quietly away on the banks of the Moon River, just south of Savannah, Georgia.
